MITHRAM is the brainchild of a group of parents of intellectually disabled children.
A strong need was felt to teach, train, empower and uplift these special children,
to improve their condition, make them better individuals, less dependent on others for
their basic needs. Most of the parents are not aware of the necessity for schooling and
training of their differently abled children. They are also anxious about the fate of their
children after parents' lifetime as other siblings may not always assume the responsibility of looking after their disabled dear ones, who cannot survive without the support of family, society,
Government and other philanthropic institutions. This sad state of affairs prompted us
to form an association of parents to take up their cause and speak up for their rights.
The mission of Mithram is to minimise the concerns of parents by working for
the welfare of these less fortunate children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Mithram runs a Special School, Vocational Training Centre and Care Home to
address the problems and difficulties faced by special parents and their disabled children.
Mithram is also striving to translate into reality its vision of lifelong care for these God’s
own children, in a happy, healthy, peaceful and serene environment with all homely comforts and
disable friendly facilities.
Objectives
- To work for the utmost development of the mentally challenged people and to empower
them to live as
independently as possible.
- To create awareness among the parents of the intellectually disabled.
- To represent before the Government and various social agencies for the betterment of life
of the mentally challenged persons.
- To encourage, initiate and promote facilities for education, gainful employment,
talent development, medical treatment and rehabilitation of intellectually disabled persons
- To protect and enforce their special rights, entitlements.

Scientific Charitable Registration Act(Regn.No.ER.561/93).

Kerala (Regn. No.SJD/223/2022 RPWD dt.15.2.2022)
- Registered with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, under the
Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 2010, FCRA Registration No. 052850467
for receiving donations from abroad
- Registered with National Trust for welfare of persons with Mental Retardation, Autism,
Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities, New Delhi(Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment,
Government of India)
- Registered with Board of Control for Orphanages and other Charitable Homes,
Kerala (Regn. No. 2472 dt.13.7.2022).
- Working partner with National Institute for Empowerment of Persons
with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) Chennai.
- Member of PARIVAAR – National Confederation of Parents Organisation
(NCPO) of persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, New Delhi.
